Our battery management and protection system, is a centralized system of batteries which uses Lithium Ionic chemistry. This configurable system is for 6 to 15 battery packs to build a cost-effective, ultra-efficient, customizable, high current power source. The NR6-BMS10x0 is ideal for low voltage / high current applications. The NR6-BMS10x0 is the ideal battery management system for any 12V to 60V device or system using a lithium ion battery pack of 10 to 1000Ah capacity. Perfect for mobile robots, electric vehicles, and personal mobility devices.

The BMS is Designed for Motor Control


Motors generate current when they are pushed, but they also employ current to create traction. The NR6-BMS10x0 is the only BMS on the market that is made specifically to work with a regenerative braking systems. It controls the battery pack's whole current flow, not simply the outgoing current. Therefore, each time the brakes are used, the battery receives a charge. A braking resistor receives extra energy when the battery is completely charged.

The NR6-BMS10x0 tracks the current flow in and out of the battery using it's on-board current sensors. State of charge is evaluated by comparing the total current used vs. the energy in Ah (Amp Hour) that is estimated to be in the battery. The NR6-BMS10x0 originally uses the battery's Ah specification, but calculates and adjusts this theoretical capacity using measurements over actual charge/discharge cycles. Remaining charge is reported as Ah or Time Remaining to Empty based on the present load current.

Built-in current sensor and switches prevents the short-circuits and overloads that are a risk in any electrical system. The BMS10x0 offers a unique safety feature that most other products do not contain, a built-in 100A switch with under-voltage and over-voltage shut-off preventing spikes or dips in the power usage from damaging the monitored battery pack. An integrated circuit breaker prevents system damage due to short circuits and continuous overloads, eliminating the need for separate external amps sensors and power contactors.

To keep the batteries at the ideal temperature, the controller turns on the fan or heater and modifies charge/discharge.

Calculated battery parameters are compared to user configured nominal rating which provides an overall view of the battery pack’s health.

Every aspect of the battery pack’s charge and health can be communicated to the user application via the BMS10x0's CAN, RS485, USB, and PWM ports. The BMS10x0's CAN interface supports several protocols, including CANOpen and Roboteq’s proprietary RoboCAN meshed network protocol. Thanks to the BMS10x0's scripting feature, any other CAN protocols can easily be supported as well.

CAN Protocols
The NR6-BMS10x0's CAN interface supports several protocols, including CANOpen and Roboteq’s proprietary RoboCAN meshed network protocol. Thanks to the NR6-BMS10x0's scripting feature, any other CAN protocols can easily be supported as well.

Smart
The NR6-BMS10x0 has a simple but powerful built-in programming language. It can be used, for example, to read any of its operating parameters, such as volts or amps, and activate any of its internal and external switches to perform a special management strategy. This exclusive feature will let you taylor the NR6-BMS10x0 to match your most exotic requirements.

Configurable
The NR6-BMS10x0 is the very model of configuration versatility. Through its Free PC Utility minimum/maximum current, voltage and temperatures thresholds, communication settings, charger control and all other settings can can easily be configured. A graphical representation of the battery lets you monitor and chart in real time all internal voltages, temperatures and currents. The field upgradable firmware allows users to keep up with the newest features and updates using only a Windows© computer and a USB cable.

The NR6-SR100V5 Shunt Regulator is a protection subsystem for dissipating the regenerative energy when braking or drastically reducing the speed of electric motors.

The SR100V5 has been designed to work in conjunction with a wide variety of power sources and motor controllers. During braking, the regenerative voltage can equal to or even exceed the supply voltage. In some cases depending on the rotational inertia of the mechanical system, causing system failures or permanent damage to the power supply or/and the motor controller.

The NR6-SR100V5 works by monitoring the system’s supply’s voltage and instantly applying a two-level resistive load during overvoltage conditions to absorb up to 5 kilowatts of excess energy and bring voltages back to safe levels.
