
DC Brushed Motors
A brushed motor, also known as a permanent magnet motor, converts direct current (DC) electrical energy into rotating mechanical energy using brushes. It consists of a stationary stator with permanent magnets and a rotating rotor (armature) containing an electromagnet. Carbon brushes maintain contact with the commutator on the rotor, allowing current to energize the electromagnet and produce motion.
The speed of a brushed motor can be controlled by adjusting the applied voltage or the strength of the magnetic field. These motors offer stable, constant-speed operation, with torque directly proportional to the current.
