AC Electric Motors and Variable Frequency Drives

AC electric motors, also known as asynchronous motors, operate using alternating current (AC). Among them, AC induction motors are particularly valued for their simple design, high efficiency, and operational flexibility. These characteristics make them ideal for a wide range of electrical applications. We offer fractional horsepower 115V and 220V AC induction motors that are well-suited for fixed-speed uses such as fans, pumps, hoists, and conveyor systems.

For applications requiring variable speed, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) are used to control AC induction motors by adjusting the frequency and voltage of the power supply. VFDs offer energy-efficient performance, smooth acceleration and deceleration, and built-in overload protection. They are commonly used in systems where speed control is important but precise positioning is not critical, such as in pumps, fans, and compressors.
