Brendan Buonomo

Brendan Buonomo, Engineering

Brendan Buonomo is an Engineering student from Hofstra University. Brendan is in charge of training manuals for the newly implemented Scytec DataXchange software. Brendan will work to get all aspects of the software on-line and reporting accurately. He also worked on several other of the automation projects we have going on. After the summer, Brendan will continue to work part-time throughout the school year to help us with our automation projects.
Keith Bauer

Keith Bauer, Engineering

Keith Bauer is a student from Quinnipiac University. He is working on time studies in Sterling Instrument and has implemented a GoPro to get slow motion videos from inside the CNC’s. Keith and the SI Shop Foreman, then studying the videos and made program edits to create the fastest cycle times possible.
Alec Rees

Alec Rees, Engineering

Alec Rees is a engineering student at Pennsylvania College of Technology. He assisted with both the MiR robot implementation as well as programming the Universal Robot. Alec was be in charge of the hardware installation and programming on these projects. The MiR robot is a material handler that will move parts from one programmed station to another. This will reduce the amount of walking our employees will do throughout the day.

Zheng Xu

Zheng Xu, Engineering

Zheng Xu is currently enrolled at New York Institute of Technology for Electrical & Computer Engineering Technology. Zheng is currently working on creating an Engineering onboarding package / manual. He also collaborated with his collegues to enhance and rectify issues related to the MiR robot, which is presently in development. Zheng has also setup tablets for each workstation to easily initiate the MiR to send proper materials to that particular workstation, ultimately optimizing workflow efficiency.
Vincent Sottile

Vincent Sottile, Manufacturing Machinist

Vincent Sottile is a student from Farmingdale State University. He will be shadowing machinists in Sterling Instrument. He will receive hands on experience running different types of machines. Vincent will also work to machine tool kit trays for catalog parts in an effort to help the tool crib with tooling management.
Robert Mineo

Robert Mineo, Engineering

Robert Mineo is a returning student and recent graduate from West Islip High School. Robert also was a recipient of this year’s Gene Haas Foundation scholarship. He worked on our Universal Robotics arm for Sterling Instrument this summer. He will program the robot to load and unload the mills for multiple types of parts. Robert will be attending Florida State University this fall. Robert will be returning year-over-year to assist us in engineering internship projects.
Christopher Palazzo

Christopher Palazzo, Engineering

Christopher Palazzo is a returning student and recent graduate from West Islip High School. Christopher was one of this year’s Gene Haas Foundation scholarship recipients. He worked on our Universal Robotics arm for Sterling Instrument this summer. He will program the robot to load and unload the mills for multiple types of parts. Christopher will be attending Yale this fall.
William Dusanenko
Ethan Pravato

William Dusanenko, Engineering

Ethan Pravato and William Dusanenko are both students from Massapequa High School. They were conducting time studies on cycle times for Stock Drive Products' CNC machines. Their studies will help us get up to date data on cycle times for pricing and help us to determine where corrective actions will be assigned in order to reduce the cycle times.
