An expanded series of 35 miniature base-mounted right angle speed reducers introduced by Stock Drive Products are designed to operate in any output direction: reverse, same or dual. They are ideal for connecting accessory instruments, for reversing rotation of flexible shafts and for controlling two units through one power source. These versatile, lightweight 4 oz. (113 grams), units, identified as the A 2Z 22- (inch series) and the A 2Z 22M (metric series), are low cost, yet provide long operating life. Their crossed-helical gears system provide a wide range of 9 output ratios. These right angle reducers are finding increased use in intermittent-duty applications where input motion by means of a control knob or gear is transmitted at right angles to the output shaft. The units are also excellent for continuous, light-duty jobs where they can operate at speeds of about 1,800 rpm.
These miniature, 2-7/16"(62 mm) wide X 2-1/2" (63.5 mm) deep X 1-7/32" (31 mm) high, reducers come with a universal-type of mounting plate that simplifies face-mounting the units. Slots in the mounting plate permit final adjustments. Either right-handed or left-handed units may be ordered. Gear ratios range from 1:1 (where they may be operated from either shaft acting as the output shaft) to 25:1, with horsepower ratings ranging from 1/20 to 1/15 HP. The units feature a black-anodized die-cast aluminum housing with hardened steel helical gears, steel shafts, threaded brass bushings and comes complete with a grease fitting. Input and output shaft diameters are .250" for the inch series and 6 mm for the metric series. Manual torque capacities for units up to 5:1 gear ratios are 28 lb.in. (3.2 Nm), and above 5:1 gear ratios are 20 lb.in. (2.3 Nm) respectively.
