|
An expanded series of 21 clamps for retaining gears on shafts, introduced by Sterling Instrument, features an effective way to avoid inducing vibrations in gear trains when clamps are used for gear retention. Designated as the balanced-type gear clamps, series no. S3300Y-C, each clamp has a split design with a contour to minimize rotational imbalance. A typical clamp slides over the end of the gear hub and holds the gear by squeezing the split hub of the gear against the shaft. It is capable of gripping the gear without marring the shaft, and can be tightened by means of a supplied stainless steel socket head cap screw. A gear can be easily repositioned by loosening the screw. The clamps are available in zinc plated carbon steel, SI 6 |
