AGMA 10 Quality Hardened Spur Gears from Sterling Instrument Produced Using a New Lower Cost Diffusion Coating Process

Image Driven Product Finder & Current Prices

A new series of 276 AGMA 10 quality hardened alloy steel spur gears manufactured by Sterling Instrument are being produced using a lower cost proprietary diffusion coating process. This new process produces high surface hardness and very good corrosion resistance. Identified as the Series S10A6Z-, S10A8Z-, and S10A9Z- , these 20° pressure angle alloy steel gears are available, off-the-shelf, in 24, 32 and 48 Pitch and are designed to fit 1/4", 3/8" or 1/2" shafts. They range in size from 18 teeth to 192 teeth and are available in both 1/4" and 3/8" face widths.

The core hardness for these gears is Rc 38. The surface hardness is Rc 55 or higher. The finish is black due to the final heat treatment, and it may be omitted from the bore. The combination of good quality, tough core and high surface hardness, make these gears a very attractive alternative to the much more expensive hardened and ground gears. The corrosion-resistant surface combined with appropriate lube make them work in any harsh environment, under extremely heavy loads.

These gears have two tapped #8-32 UNC holes located at 90°. Two cup point 18-8 stainless steel set screws are supplied with the gears.
